I'm very passionate about life, art and words. I've tried to maintain a child-like sense of wonder about my surroundings. I enjoy great works of art, feats of engineering and afternoon naps on much the same level. I can talk for hours about most anything, but I also value conciseness highly. I love learning for its own sake. I grew up in the South and actually had etiquette class in grade school. So I'm that guy that will hold the door for a woman, offer her my coat when it's cold and keep my elbows off the dinner table. It's annoying, really.

...and I'm really curious as to how someone could be serious about being agnostic. I think it's kind of fascinating that someone could be at all adamant about an idea that is essentially about being indifferent.

...and another point of curiosity is how people can answer the "Drinks?" question with "Sometimes" when they mention "a bottle of wine" in answer to the "On a typical Friday night" question... sounds like denial to me.

I no longer live in Western MA; I relocated to Madison, WI, in the summer of 2009.

However, I do still love dancing (contact improvisation and other improvisational dance, as well as contra dance), reading, writing in my journal (though I don't do it nearly often enough), and cooking vegan food.

I miss living in organized cooperative houses, and living with cats. When I left Boston, I thought I'd miss the city more than I did living in the woods. Instead, I found myself wanting a smaller city. Madison is not small, but smaller than Boston.

Two years ago, I go into a serious relationship. I had said I wasn't interested in meeting or dating anyone for a while, but I guess sometimes that's not the kind of thing I can decide in advance.

I'm queer, and occasionally identify as gender-fucked or gender non-identified, but these days I mostly feel female. I'm also kinky, and learning more about switching. And, I'm vegan, and have a hard time spending a lot of time around people who aren't vegetarian or vegan.

Not interested in playing games with people - I'm real and usually blunt about situations and prefer people to get down to the point with how they really feel instead of pretending for the sake of appearances. I'm married (to <<Lears_Fool_71>>). Can't quite recall our exact anniversary date, but that's ok, because neither can he. We're fairly certain folks ought to be sending us cards sometime around the second week of October. Sooner or later, one of us will dig out the certificate to check the date.

On the sexuality spectrum, I'm pretty much a big ole dyke. (Not physically big, actually, I'm rather smallish, but you know what I mean). I'm quiet and sleepy most of the time. My life is reasonably stable, content, happy, blah, blah, blah. I guess I'm what you get when one of those sullen, depressive, goth, punk girls stops shaving her head and gets old. It's not so bad.

In terms of romantic relationships, I'm not open to casual encounters or any thing that doesn't also involve my husband. We come as a set, so to speak. We're looking to add to the already happy family, if anything. Casual encounters are fruit best savored by the young, which we no longer are.

I am a pretty laid back guy that likes to do many different things. I work and go to school so that takes up a lot of my time. When I am not doing that, I enjoy bowling golf and softball. I also watch tv when I can (no cable or dish right now :( Other than that I am pretty much up for anything that is fun.

I'm smart, most of the time. I'm cynical, almost all the time. I'm a bit of an asshole, some of the time. More importantly, and more consistently, I'm funny as Hell, even if it's sometimes only to myself.

I'm an atheist who's fascinated by religion, a pervert who's amazed by purity, and a smart guy who's repulsed by stupidity.

I like to have fun, I like to party a little, and I'm really happy with my life. I've gotten to a point where getting hammered every night isn't my ideal situation, but I'm not to the point where the occasional bender doesn't sound ideal.

I'm either a libertarian or an anarcho-capitalist, depending on the day/direction of the wind. I'm also a devout atheist (oxymoronicness intended) and I hate anime. Believe it or not, those three things were the reason my last three relationships ended, so I've decided to just put them right out front now. More things some people find annoying: I think Kurt's writing was pretentious and unimpressive, I think Tarantino is an overrated hack, the LOTR movies were utter shit (using the British pronunciation), I could possibly care less about Harry Potter, but it'd be hard, and I mock people relentlessly. In fact, I've said a few thousand times to a few hundred different people "If I don't take the time to insult you, it just means I don't care."

Oh, and I think addiction is a load of shit, I swear more than a sailor with Turret's, and the little guy who censors what you say? Mine committed suicide ten years ago. And I have a habit of saying something unintentionally offensive to someone, pausing for a split second, and then saying "I stand by it." This is followed by uncontrollable giggling.

Recently I've started adding "for some reason" to the end of lots of sentences, since it cracks one of my roommates up. I have three roommates until mid-August, when two of them are leaving. I'm fairly sure "for some reason" isn't the cause of the departure, though.

Because it always comes up and some people find it odd, <<umi-ryu>> is one of my roommates, and an ex-girlfriend. We're just friends now, though- it turns out we're good at that, but bad at the relationship thing. If you're the type to get jealous easily, though, you might want to wander away.

And yeah, I'm a sadist. Consensual pain is frickin' hot, I can't deny it or ignore it, and I don't want to. I'm not looking for mindless slaves (not exclusively, at least :) ), but biting, scratching, slapping, etcetera are regular parts of my sex life. If that's not for you, hey, I'll gladly talk to you anyway. I'm not one to turn down new friends.

And before I forget, I ruthlessly mock goth and emo kids who act like they're bad ass. In fact, pretty much any guy who thinks he's bad ass and isn't above six six is going to set off my alpha-male strut... which is either endearing, annoying, or terrifying, depending on who you ask. No matter what, I'm not planning on stopping it any time soon. Girls in goth gear can be super duper hot... pale skin, dark make-up, piercings... drool... but I promise I'll laugh at any dark and evil things you say. Be forewarned.

There's nothing I care less about than circumstances of birth... if you have a large amount of pride in your "cultural heritage" then maybe we won't get along that well. There's a difference between knowing where you came from and things like, say, whining about the fact that German isn't the dominant language because you've got German ancestors. This one is hard to explain without specific examples... if you're curious, feel free to ask.

I've been living in Southern WI for about 10 years. I grew up in California, but came out to WI to attend Beloit College. I graduate around the dot com crash, so rather than moving back to Silicon Valley and taking years to find a job, I took a job I was offered at the place I had been interning my senior year of college. Last year I started a new job and have recently moved to Madison. I really like my new job and living in Madison.

Hmm, what else? I like to read. I'm in a book club that meets about once a month. We read everything from autobiographies and memoirs, to contemporary fiction. I'm also in a game group that meets about once a week. We get together and play all sorts of games, from light games like apples to apples to more strategic based games.

I have been known to sleep, eat, work, cook, clean, shop, love, hate, breathe..... I walk on concrete, grass, gravel, asphalt. I sleep on a bed. I work 40 hours a week. I eat food and drink liquids.

Alright! You clicked on me, so that's a start. So, on to who I am and what I've got to offer. I have a stable job and a car. I'm kind of artsy, I smoke, and I can be a little awkward when getting to know someone, and that's most of the bad stuff. I'm 5'10", have red hair (which, due to genetics is mostly on my chin), and have most of the qualifications of a typical geek.

I currently live with two families (married couple with two kids, and a single mom with one kid here and another every other weekend) in a triplex, and we have the first floor of a house to ourselves and have formed our own little "tribe".

My family is pretty much your standard as-dysfunctional-as-possible-yet-still-talk-to-each-other type (wow that was a lot of hyphens, sounded better in my head). I've been divorced for about 8 years, as I married before the two of us were really grown up enough to know who we were or what we wanted out of life yet.

I'm a recovering computer geek who only recently realized that music is my real passion in life. I've played percussion almost as long as I can remember (although not very seriously until somewhat recently).

Up until about five or six years ago, I only really played "normal" drums, but then my interest in them started to wane and I decided to pick up my first ever set of tablas. Tablas are a traditional accompanying drum in Indian classical music. They are by far the most complicated (and enjoyable) drums that I've ever played. I've played them for around four years now, and I like to tell people that I know how to play them well enough to know that I barely know how to play them at all. I also recently acquired a sitar (another classical Indian instrument, popularized in the west in the 60's by Ravi Shankar) that I've completely fallen in love with (even though its my first string instrument), and I hope one day to travel to India and study music there.

Personality-wise, I'm very low maintenance and quite laid back. I rarely ever get stressed out because I think one of the most important things in life is to be able to be content with things as they are. I tend to be something of a home-body (mainly because I don't dig on the bar scene at all... well, that, and I'm kind of poor).

I like a wide variety of music, with my main interest being in Indian classical music (which I would love to be able to perform some day). But I also like western classical music (ala Mozart and Beethoven), classic rock (I can never get enough Hendrix, Beatles, Doors, Zeppelin, etc...), funk, jazz, blues, wierd experimental electronic music, and much more... Some of the types of music that I don't really dig on are country, and rap (and for that matter, a vast majority of 'popular' music these days, which tends to be devoid of all musicianship and feeling).

I love movies as well, with some of my favorite films being old black and white samurai films directed by Akira Kurosawa (some examples are, 7 Samurai, Sanjuro, Yojimbo, Red Beard, Ikiru, Sugata Sanshiro, etc...)

I read quite a bit, mostly philosophy or science books, but every once in a while an oddball work of fiction gets thrown in that I enjoy. I'm completely enamoured with the works of JRR Tolkien, and read them quite regularily.

My overall view of the world (or Weltanschauung if you like crazy german words) can be summarized by the following quote :

I'm a quiet, intelligent, funny person who enjoys living and everything the world has to offer. I am very driven. Once I start something, it becomes very important to me to see it through. I work as a property manager, which is a fancy way to say I'm a landlord, or slumlord, take your pick.

I like just about anything electronic, including video games but I don't actually play them very much anymore. One of my favorite jobs was when I worked as a computer technician for Best Buy since I was paid to play with all sorts of electronic devices.

I was once described by a family member as 16 going on 30. This is probably a pretty good description of me, except of course for the fact that I haven't been sixteen in over a decade. In many ways I am and have always been far more mature than my age. (I've been carded more to prove my youth than I've ever been carded to prove my age.) But at the same time I have a rather active inner child. I like to watch cartoons and buy action figures.

I like physical activities, biking in particular. But I don't like to exercise for the sake of exercising. I've never needed to in the past since my jobs always involved plenty of physical activity. Now almost four years at a desk job have left me in some need of spending more time on said bike.

I am a self-professed Geek, but that _doesn't_ mean I don't know how to have a good time, or how to speak with people, and I bathe regularly, every day, & so on and so forth. You know: be a person.

I enjoy spending time learning; be that about myself, or about others, or about this world around us. I know a lot of things without knowing them, things I've absorbed from articles I've read years ago, things I didn't know I was thinking about, conversations I've been having with myself, &c.

I think about... well, pretty much everything, all the time. I can't stop, and I'm not sure that I want to. I like knowing that part of my brain is always finding a way to be busy, trying to work out the world. There are always things to understand, things to fix, things to enjoy. Trying to figure them all out is important, it's part of what makes us Human.

Also, it's been suggested I mention that Morning is my enemy.

I'm a converted Madisonian. I came from north of here (Sheboygan) minus college and a 2 and a 1/2 yr. stint living in Oregon. I am enough of a dork to admit I'd love to start up a weekly RISK game, yet cool enough to say I can't stand D&D.

I'm back on the vegan-wagon again full-force. I managed to quit drinking and it's been great. I feel loads better and have much more energy.

I love to make art; CD's, sculptures, etc. I love to read, (mostly horror, mystery and archeology) and spending hours in thrift shops.

Umm yeah...I live in Wisconsin and like drinking, drugs, and sex...That is so not serious. I have no clue as to how to fill in this box. I'd rather tear walls down than build them. I'm a bit of a stickler for grammar. I need to be near nature. Endorphin rushes are nice. I value truth and respect. I'm loyal to those that deserve it.

I try to live a fun, creative lifestyle. Am into a lot of different things, so I can't really be pigeon-holed. I'm also somewhat adventurous and enjoy discovering/exploring/trying new things & activities, but to be honest, most sports bore me to tears - so don't bother discussing them with me, unless you can do it in a way that makes me laugh or keeps me entertained. Humor and wit are extremely important elements that have attracted me to the majority of my friends. I've been told that I can be brutally honest sometimes, but, never done to be mean - just tend to call it like I see it. I usually am drawn to creative people (musicians, actors, other visual artists). I also can be non-monogamous or polyamorous, depending on the person I'm with/what their comfort level is. I'm just a fun-loving fun lover who likes sassy lassies with a particular affinity for taking charge. I'm pretty good at air hockey, even better at eating, but best at strutting around my home naked...maybe. And if you haven't guessed, I'm generally sarcastic as hell! To be perfectly honest, I'm only 25 and I've already managed to screw up one marriage...but I think she and I would be in agreement on the fact that we were simply just to scared to get away from the familiarity of one another because we had been together for 5 years, and unfortunately we didn't realize that until after we had gotten married. I have two adorable cats, Chloe and Yahara, who mean the world to me, and if you're not down with cats, we probably won't get along. I'm a navy brat, so I've lived all over, but I've settled here. I love this city and this area. I spent my youth in the deep south, but my accent has faded significantly.

I graduated from UW Madison with a East Asian Area Studies Major. I took up to fourth semester of Japanese. I like anime and manga. I love reading, but more, I love writing and drawing.

I love walking. I'm a cuddlewhore. Really, I love cuddling, reading, and just chatting. I like hanging out with people even if we are doing completely different things and not talking.

I do like tramping around in the underbrush at Gov. Dodge Park plotting out my routes for next ringgame, or just hiking in general. I'd like to try canoeing sometime.

I like costume making for different events. I attend anime conventions. I like gaming. I'm artistic and write a LOT, but I don't spend all of my time moping to do it. I love my stories, but they require sugar and happiness to be written. Black clothing and grief will not produce chapter four.

I currently attend the local SCA with an interest to join; I just have to get enough money together. I enjoy spinning, and am looking at learning book binding, embroidery, weaving, and illumination.

I'm a geek, and I like gaming and the occasional video game although I don't indulge as much anymore.

I'm new to Madison, relocated for my first "real job" after spending an eternity in school and/or slacking off. I'm from Philly, and I'm really going to miss living in that city, but I enjoy exploring new places. I'm starting to get a feel for Madison, and am happy with my move so far. I gravitate to hipster-type music and establishments but don't really look the part. That has its good points and bad; at least my hair is washed regularly, but I don't have a seemingly unending array of artsy T-shirts.

I am Ho-Chunk and Stockbridge Munsee born and raised in Madison. I left town for college on the east coast and realized while I was there that I am pretty much a Midwest girl at heart. The day after I graduated I packed up and drove back to Madison. Now, I work at the UW and get to travel with some frequency.

I consider myself to be an open person, but at the same time I'm also easy going and passionate about many things. I love politics, particularly state politics. Sometimes I just love the nonsense of it all, while simultaneously being horrified that all of this drama leads to real (often times crappy) law making.

I like being active, whether its going to my gym, going for a run, or just horsing around outside. I like to play sports, but often times I'm not so good at them. I'm competitive at times, but other times I don't think much about winning and just goof around (much to the chagrin of my more competitive teammates).

I love to go dancing with my friends. I usually prefer dancing to Hip Hop, but sometimes ridiculous pop music can be fun too.

My friends and family are very important to me. I have quite a large family and we are all very close, for the most part. I'm very loyal to the ones I care about and often stick up for them more than I will for myself.

I'm a 25 year old college student who loves to read and watch movies, especially old movies. I'm generally a happy person, but I can get agitated by people who are superlogical or annoying. I like Death Cab for Cutie, BareNaked Ladies, and The Goo Goo Dolls. My favorite books are The Stars my Destination and Pride and Prejudice. I like scifi tv like Babylon 5, Stargate sg-1 and The Avengers and alternative music. I'm sensitive and caring but am not afraid to debate just about anything. I'm not afraid to look ridiculous and love to have fun.

I am quiet around strangers, loud among my friends. I try to be polite but please don't confuse that with always being nice. I have sense of humor that is often dry, sharp and always a burden to my friends.

I'm somewhere in chapter 3 or 4; still treading a lot of the same damn-fool paths, but I walk with my eyes open. New things are being tried.

I'm finally getting to Boulders (local climbing gym) about three times a week. My callusses are indestructible. I have actual muscles on my arms. It's glorious.

Faux-jock stuff: Aside from climbing (which I enjoy so intensely that it causes me physical pain that I didn't find it 15 years ago), I... like.... to... swim, spar, play soccer, rollerblade, and camp. I am competent at all of those.

Real me: I try to read a lot. I love movies, and I'm a snob about them. I've traveled some, and I want to do much, much more. I dream of being a writer, and take kiddie steps toward realizing that dream.

I have been living here in Madison for 5 years now. It's such an awesome place to be considering all the things I like to do. I bike to work, I love playing Ultimate, I enjoy staying up late playing games and watching movies. I have a large group of friends here and my family's close too. I am not much of a planner, my calendar can vouch for that. But this teaching business is changing my ways:) I live one day at a time, and I like to see what surprises life dishes out for me.

It's been a long time Madison, but my southwest exile is over. After three long years of suffering through warm weather, endless sunshine, really fresh air, and a low cost of living, I can finally get back too... fried cheese, I guess...

I'm coming back to write-up and defend my thesis, which, like I said was done off-site. I suppose then I'll need to find a job, but that's still a few months off. Know anyone that needs to hire semiconductor physicist?

Now that I'm back up north, I'm looking forward to using my mothballed cross-country skis, sailing, watching the Twins and Brewers again, possibly curling? We'll see...

I have moved around this state a lot and just moved to Madison this summer. I like it so far, not sure if it will be where I stay, I will have to do more traveling and see what else is out there.
I am really into photography, people are the best to take photographs of, their faces can show so much expression. I also enjoying staying active and keeping busy. Usually trying to learn something new if I can, things like sewing, playing piano, baking/cooking currently learning how to ice skate. I also enjoy watching anime ( I'm a nerd I know). Anime can be really weird but there is so much out there that you can probably find something you would enjoy. Honestly I am pretty picky about it, but there are some amazing ones out there. Plus the stories aren't stories you would normally find in the states, which is probably another reason I like it so much. Things can be so boring and predictable, I like when you can change things up a bit.

I moved to Madison in August 2008 after living in southern Wisconsin for as long as I can remember (I moved from the Chicago suburbs shortly before I turned four and still visit the area on a somewhat regular basis.) I love it here even though I don't get out as much as I want. I've traveled across most of the country (with the exception of the west coast) and the Midwest is still my favorite place to be.

I've always been intelligent and tend to stand out from my peers, but I've never been a big fan of formal education. Learning doesn't come from rote repetition or completing assigned tasks for me, but rather from searching out topics I find interesting and inquiring for more information about them.

I enjoy physical activity but I don't like getting sweaty, which is part of the reason that I've always loved the winter. Other reasons to love the winter - snow! Also, you never have to mow the lawn.

I love stories told in almost any form, be it music, movies, books, or games. I tend to devour them at a rather prodigous rate, so I'm always seeking out new material.

I was born and have lived most of my life in the great state of Wisconsin. I love to travel having been all over the eastern part of the US. I would like to see the westeren part some time soon. I can't think of anything right now so more will come later.

I like Video games. I play my xbox around 2-6 hours a week. That means I'm a gamer right?!? Sure it does. I also like hanging out, outside of the house. Weather it's bar hopping, bowling or movies, I'm all for it. Not to say I wouldn't enjoy a quiet warm night staying in. Also I'm a picture whore. I LOVE the internets, youtube is one of the favorite sites along with college humor (hardly working) and newgrounds and of course facebook and b.

I like chillaxing at home while playing video games. I keep myself busy with work, an endless supply of chores to do, and making people laugh. I like to go out to eat but I somehow still am skinny(one of the advantages of being tall). If I can't find anything to do, I'll work out to prevent the lazy feeling.

I also like to go out and people watch. There are some highly entertaining people out there.
