Henry Vilas Zoo - (608) 258-9490

I did not believe that this could possibly be free. There had to be a catch. There wasn't, no outrageous parking, no admission fee. The gifts and food/drinks were reasonably priced, they have strollers and wagons for little ones who get tired. Definitely something that I plan to do again and again with my children! The carousel is absolutely gorgeous. My daughter and I had so much fun in the sun, the lions weren't out but the tigers were and all the birds. Oh what fun!!! I bet they have a great light diplay at Christmas.

Henry Vilas us a beautiful free zoo. Although it is kinda small, and has nothing more than the usual staple of zoo animals, it's still awesome because it is free. Parking can and probably will be a problem, so plan accordingly. The zoo is located by a lake which is perfect for setting up picnics

Budget tight? Vilas is a delight. We went because it was FREE! The Henry Vilas Zoo is small, but just right. We took our two year old, and anything larger would have been overwhelming. It was tough to park, but I was surprised to find the zoo was not over crowded. I see many visits to Madison in our families future.
